What is EBM?
Evidence based medicine (EBM) is simply the use of the best available
evidence in clinical decision making. For most GPs, this means finding
good quality information from a range of sources, and using it in
practice. However, EBM is more than just the evidence' itself.
It is a process which includes the following skills:
- asking
the right question at the right time
- knowing
where to search for the answer
- understanding
how to appraise the quality of information retrieved
- knowing
how to apply that information to an individual patient
Internet Training Program
Monash Division
has devised a GP Internet Training program to develop skills in
using the Internet to find evidence based, clinical information.
If you would like to participate in this training program or would
like further details, please contact Leslie
Stanger at the division.
