Thursday Lunchtime Lecture Series

** Please note: Changes to format of Thursday Lunchtime Lecture Series.

These sessions are held at the office of the Monash Division, Monash House, rear of 867 Centre Road, East Bentleigh.
The sessions run from 12.45pm to 1.30pm, with question time from 1.30pm to 1.45pm. Lunch is available from 12.30pm.

Please note that registration is not required for these sessions.

Primary Care Infrastructure Grants Information Session
About:

The Australian Government has announced grants of up to $500,000. Applications are due in Canberra by 2.00pm on 20 August 2010. This session will provide an outline of the application process and other information to assist with your application. Recent Developments / Advancements in the
Treatment of Neurological Disorders
About:

This interactive session will provide GPs with the opportunity to have questions relating to a range of neurological disorders answered. After this session GPs will be familiar with:

  • How to diagnose early Parkinson's Disease
  • The role of Botulinium toxin in neurological disorders - especially in Blepharospasm, HFS, Dystonia and Spasticity

Data Tools for Chronic Disease Management
About:

Over half the practices within the Monash Division now have either the PEN Clinical Audit Tool or the Canning Tool supplied by the Division. New tools are emerging to assist practices in chronic disease management and other areas of their practice. This workshop for GPs, Practice Nurses and other practice staff provides an opportunity to:

  • Learn how others are using the tools
  • Find out about updates to the tools and new tools available

and includes a presentation by Mr Jon Hilton, Program Manager, CDM-Net Australia on web-based chronic disease management and how to deliver best practice care to your entire chronic disease population.

Online Education - Immunisation Skills for Practice Nurses - The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), with the Australian Practice Nurses Association (APNA) and the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA), has launched six new online learning activities aimed at boosting the immunisation knowledge of practice nurses and other members of practice teams.
The free activities are available through RACGP’s online education portal www.gplearning.com.au. The new education modules, which are consistent with the latest National Health and Medical research Council immunisation guidelines, provide an interactive and practical approach to managing immunisation in general practice.
